A New Year in Art!

We are so excited to be back in our wonderful art room this year. We have spent the last two years learning a lot about different artists and influential figures throughout art history. This year we will focus on exploring different mediums and techniques that we have been unable to use in the past few years.

Students in all grades have been working hard at re discovering the color theory. We have been focused on exploring how colors work together in order to help us continue to create beautiful masterpieces.

Our warm colors (red, orange, and yellow) create a different mood than our cool colors (green, blue, and purple) given this knowledge students can begin to develop ideas about how to demonstrate a feeling in their work with only the colors they use.

We have also been exploring our complimentary colors. Red and green, orange and blue, and purple and yellow. These colors are opposites on the color but when used together make each other POP!

We will continue to explore and experiment with color and color mixing as the year goes on.

It has been such a fantastic start to the new year with students' excitement, interest, and curiosity all around the art room. Here is a quick peek at some student work being created so far.
